Patrick Rills is a coder and freelance writer living and working in Boston, MA by way of Baton Rouge, LA. He has worked in the software industry for over 15 years in various roles from network administrator to project manager, but mainly as a full stack developer specializing in web and mobile UX as well as database design.
Patrick is currently an engineer at Lose It!, the premier mobile-based calorie counter and weight loss program which since 2008 has helped over 20 million users lose over 40 million pounds. Lose It! is also the highest grossing health and nutrition app in Apple's iTunes App Store. As a Lose It! team member, Patrick helps code on all platforms including iOS, Android and the web where he assists in adding features and improving user experience.
Patrick has worked as a freelance writer in comedy, journalism and comic books. He has written comic books for companies such as BOOM! Studios and Ape Entertainment. While living in Louisiana, he was a freelance entertainment journalist and critic for the Baton Rouge newspaper, The Advocate, for which he has reviewed movies and comic books as well as covered local events such as art shows and film festivals. Patrick also independently produced comics and graphic novels under an independent publishing house he co-created, Think Tank Productions. Patrick published his first graphic novel, "Like That," illustrated by Allen Gladfelter, to great critical response and national distribution. Along with writing, Patrick has performed stand up comedy and improv professionally.
